February 2025 Newsletter
Happy February from Erin Matthew Sewing! The darn groundhog saw his shadow, so we've got six more weeks of winter--as we like to call it 6 (or more) weeks of SEWING!
We're using this slower time during the cold winter months to get ready for Spring. Keep up with Shop News by following our Erin Matthew Sewing Facebook page and our Sewing with Erin Matthew Facebook group. We post events, new fabrics, and other news periodically on those sites.
REMINDER: Our winter hours are now Tuesday through Friday 10:00 am to 4:00 pm; Saturday 10:00 am to 2:00 pm. We are closed Sunday & Monday.
***Please note that during these winter months, if the Tawas School district closes for bad weather, we will likely close as well for the safety of our employees and customers. If you are driving from a distance, we encourage you to call ahead to make sure we're open!***
Industry News
Hot off the press! This week machine embroidery company OESD announced that they have acquired DIME (Designs in Machine Embroidery) as part of the OESD family. If you're not familiar with DIME, they offer embroidery software, patented magnetic hoops, and innovative notions, which will now be part of the OESD product catalog. 
NEW IN THE SHOP!
The new Kimberbell Hopping Down the Bunny Trail machine embroidery CD and embellishment kit are in! Fabric kits are on order and will be here soon. This is a super cute spring project that will help cure your winter blues. 
New Fabric Almost Daily!
We get really excited when we see UPS, FedEx and USPS pull up with a box of new fabric! Alot of the fabric we ordered last summer/fall is starting to arrive! Here are a few photos to get you excited!

Free Motion Quilting Classes: Donna is coming back to teach some more free motion quilting classes! These popular classes always fill up, so sign up soon. Class fee is $55 and do check the class information page to learn about any prep work you need to do.

Tilda Club: This month we are going to be working on the adorable Spring Hare Pillow. It's so cute! Cost is $25.95, which includes the cost of the kit. If you are using your own fabrics, the cost is $29.95. Sign up here!
April 4-7, 2025
Spring UFO Retreat: There are seats available for the UFO at Tawas Bay Beach Resort! Cost is $30 a day. Lisa Marie will be offering chair massages, and scissor sharpening will also be available. Please call the store at 989.305.6429 to reserve a space.
June-July 2025
All Michigan Shop Hop (AMISH): Last year's AMISH was so successful, we loved seeing new faces and welcoming old friends. We are super excited for this year's hop! We have been working to get lots of new items for you! You might be wondering about the magazine and the fabric...wonder no more! The magazine presale will occur approximately 8 - 10 weeks before the hop begins (so April-ish) and fabric pre-sales can start on April 15. You can start drooling over the fabric now, it's on the Shop Hop Inc. website. Start planning your route and enjoy all the beauty of Michigan!!!
Note: We had hoped to schedule a bus to leave from Erin Matthew Sewing but will be unable to do so this year.
