Spring has arrived in Northern Michigan! Will it stay? We're starting to see trees budding and flowers popping up. It's a great time to start on your summer sewing projects! We are gearing up for a busy summer and we hope to see you in the shop soon! Classes
We have several new classes coming up, and we're adding more to our website often! Check it out often to see what's new--click on the "Classes" tab on the top navigation bar. You can sign up and pay right on the website.
April 22 - Free Motion Quilting - 11:00 am
Ready to learn how to Free Motion Quilt (or if your FMQ skills need a refresher), sign up for this session, taught by Donna Leinberger! Bring your sewing machine, foot control and power cord. There's some pre-work to complete before class, so read the class information online and come prepared! Cost is $50.
April 30 - Floating Cabin Wallhanging - 10:00 am
Make a 30" x 30" wall hanging using the 10" Log Cabin Trim Tool (CGRJAW10). We'll show you how to use the tool to create other log cabin projects. Class is free with purchase of the cabin trim tool and a recent fabric purchase at the shop. If you already have your own Log Cabin Trim tool and fabric, the cost is $50.
May 8 and May 15 - Floating Cabin Wallhanging - 6:00 pm each night
Same class as above, but spread over two evenings to fit your schedule better.
May 14 - Clear Blue Tile Demo - 1:00 pm
We'll show you how to get started with edge to edge quilting using Kimberbell's Clear Blue Tile system. The new Expansion Set 2 has templates for hoops larger than 8x12. You'll need the Clear Blue Tile Essentials set in order to use either of the Expansion Sets.
May 18 - Kimberbell Day at the Spa Event - 9:00 am (In person and virtual)
This brand new Kimberbell event features three projects: a rope bowl, a zipper pouch and a small soap case--all done in pretty purples! The project kit includes fabrics and embellishments; you'll need to bring stabilizer and thread. We'll ship kits as needed. Cost is $109.
May 21 - Take a Stand (Stand Up Tote) - 10:00 am
This project complements the By Annie Running with Scissors project! Tracie Harmon is the instructor for this project. Bring your machine, fabric, pattern, sewing supplies and lunch. Cost is $30.
May 22 - Carnival Table Runner - 10:00 am
Learn for make a pretty 20" x 44" table runner created with 1.5" and 2.5" strips (jelly rolls, honey buns!). You'll need the Creative Grids Skinny 10" Curvy Log Cabin Trim Tool. Class is free with the purchase of trim tool and fabric.
June 25 - Getting Started on Kimberbell Pumpkins & Potions - 10:30 am
We'll help you get started on the new Kimberbell Pumpkins & Potions ladder quilt! Class is free when you purchase the CD and embellishments from the shop.
New Fabric!!
The new Tula Pink fabric line - ROAR! is in the shop! It's stunning!!
Deborah's Garden is also new, and Wanda made a beautiful sample with it. Come in and see it!
KIT PREORDER!!
This beautiful Tilda kit is available for preorder on our website! It features fabric from the Creating Memories fabric line, and will be here in June! Sure to sell out quickly! Get your name on a kit now!
Blocks of the Month (BOMs)
There's still time to join the Windsong BOM! This 12-month BOM uses beautiful Tonga batiks. We still have room for 2 more people to join us!
We also have 2 more Queen of Diamonds COMPLETE KITS! If you missed this BOM and regret it, now is your chance to get it ALL - fabric, templates, patterns, etc. Once these are gone, we won't get any more.
We're taking sign ups for the Tula Pink Big Woods BOM starting later this summer (August-ish).

Clear Blue Tiles Expansion Pack 2: If your machine takes hoops larger than 8x12, this Clear Blue Tile expansion pack is for you! Haven't used CBTs before? We've got a class for that on May 14!
May Release: Complete your 12" x 12" mini wall quilt collection when the July-December Mini Quilt CD and Embellishment Kits arrive!
June Release: Pumpkin & Potions Ladder Quilt and Embellishment Kit. This ladder-style quilt features Halloween fabrics and designs. Join us on June 25 for a starter class for a jump start on the Halloween season!
New Event! We got a sneak peek of the Gingerbread Christmas event and it is really cute and unique! We can't share photos yet, but stay tuned for more details!
All Michigan Shop Hop!
We are participating in the FIRST All Michigan Shop Hop! It starts June 1 and runs through July 31. You have time to visit all 82 stores! But do stop here first and pick up your magazine which contains the passports you need to have stamped at each shop. THEY ARE IN THE SHOP NOW AND READY FOR YOU!! The magazine is $11.95.
You can also pre-order the Shop Hop fabric! We can start selling it on June 1.
Please note that we will have at least TWO BUS LOADS of shop hoppers at the store during the summer! The first is on June 13 and the second on July 13. The shop will be very busy for 90 minutes on each of these days. We'll let you know when the buses are arriving so you can plan your visit around the busy times.
